At Absolute TaeKwonDo, we're excited to share with you our
new video about taekwondo training.
It is a great way to learn self-defense, but did you know it’s also a great
form of exercise? There are many different reasons this form of martial arts is
so beneficial to a person’s overall health and well-being. We cover some of the
ways in our most recent video.
Taekwondo is an excellent form of stress relief. Not only do
you get physical training, but the fact that you’re also required to train
mentally helps alleviate stress and promotes good health overall. Plus, you can
take the mental training you do during classes and apply it to your everyday
life.
When you take a taekwondo course, you are also learning
better balance skills. You train muscles that help stabilize your body so you
can avoid falling. And you also learn how to “fall better” when you do fall.
You learn how to land properly to minimize injury.
Exercise like taekwondo can also help improve your immune
system. Regular exercise helps with stress relief, which means you get sick
less often. And when you do get sick, you tend to feel better faster.
Taekwondo also helps with your situational awareness. That
means you are more alert to your surroundings and what’s going on around you,
which could keep you safer in potentially dangerous situations. Your reflexes
improve too. Plus, when you train in taekwondo regularly, your body will get
stronger and more flexible, which helps prevent injury and will help you heal
more quickly when you get injured.
Finally, when you’re in group classes like taekwondo, you
get a better sense of community. You get that camaraderie and companionship
that come with training and sparring with people you know and respect. Plus, a
community setting can encourage you to eat better and to exercise even more.
